About Exchange for Learning
It is hard to believe that the programme started in June 2002 – over
one year ago. But, when we look at what has been achieved by
the projects, it seems as if it has been going for a lot longer.
Over 100 proposals were received for X4L. We were able to fund
25 of these. 22 repurposing projects and 3 tools projects. These
involve teachers, learning resources staff, learning technologists,
researchers, JISC services and commercial developers working
together.
I would like to go back and remind you of the aims of X4L. These
are to:
- use and develop the best available tools to explore
whether repurposing content can become a popular, sustainable
way of producing e-learning materials for the future
- increase the numbers of people in institutions with the necessary
skills to repurpose learning objects
- expose and begin to tackle the challenges associated with
repurposing learning
objects
- begin to populate a national repository with repurposable
learning materials,
case studies and exemplars.
